NEW INSTANT e-PAN CARD DOWNLOAD / REGISTRATION / APPLICATION STATUS
The Indian government launched the Instant PAN service on February 7, 2020. The Instant e-PAN service lets you quickly get a PAN Card Status online without lengthy paperwork. Provided by the Income Tax Department, itโs perfect for urgent financial needs.
Available to individual taxpayers who have Aadhaar, users can obtain a digitally signed PAN for free, update PAN details via Aadhaar e-KYC, create an e-Filing account, and check or download their e-PAN through the e-Filing portal.

Eligibility For Instant e-PAN
To qualify for an instant PAN card, you need to meet these criteria.
Instant PAN Allotment via Aadhaar Card
The new provision enables individuals with a valid Aadhaar card to get an instant PAN without filling out a detailed application. The PAN card is issued in PDF format for free and contains a QR code with the applicantโs name, date of birth, and photo.
You can download the e-PAN using the 15-digit acknowledgment number from the income tax e-filing portal. A soft copy will also be emailed to your registered address.
Registeration for Instant e-PAN
Applying for an instant PAN is a quick and simple process. Follow these steps:
- Open the Income Tax Departmentโs e-filing portal to access it.
- Click on the “Instant E-PAN” button on the homepage.
- On the Get New e-PAN page, input your 12-digit Aadhaar number, check it, I confirm that box, and click Continue.
- On the OTP validation page, I have read the consent terms and agree to proceed further, click Continue.
- On the OTP validation page, input the 6-digit OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number, check the box to validate Aadhaar details with UIDAI, and click Continue.
- On the Validate Aadhaar Details page, check it and Accept the box, then click Continue.
Note:
You’ll see a success message with an acknowledgment number upon successful submission. Note this ID for future reference. Youโll also receive a confirmation message on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

How to Check Status/Download Instant PAN
- Open the IT department’s official e-filing homepage.
- Select the Instant PAN option from the Quick Links section on the homepage.
- Tap the ‘Check Status/Download PAN’ button.
- Input your valid Aadhaar number and captcha code. When finished and click on the Submit icon.
- Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number within the given time. Check the box and click the Continue.
- You will be taken to a new page where you can check the status of your PAN allotment request.
- If the PAN allotment is successful, a PDF link will be generated within 10 minutes to download your PAN file.
Note:
